With chants of "Degnan! Degnan!" ringing in his ears, John Degnan, candidate for the 99th Assembly district, took the podium in Mahopac this morning before about 50 people who gathered to celebrate the official opening of his campaign office. Notable politicians, community leaders and interested citizens, Republicans, Democrats and independent voters made up the audience.
Mr. Degnan said that he's spoken to thousands of voters so far and will focus on state related issues with an immediate priority being a sensible energy policy for, as he said, he knows many may go cold this winter, unable to afford heating oil for their homes.
He called for accountability on the part of candidates in the race and an assurance that he would do what he could as a freshman to bring attention to some of the problems in Albany as well as respectability back to the 99th Assembly district.
